FYI:
The shot of the
booby-trapped doorway was filmed weeks after the episode was finished.
Originally, Nathan said, "A quiet way in, master?" I had to cut
out all the sound because there were 2 or 3 lawn mowers going in the
background, and the thought of Nathan wanting to be quiet when there was
already so much noise seemed idiotic.
The animal that
attacks Nic makes a sound that is a composite of a screaming woman, a
monkey, a lion, and a tiger. Nathan's feet being pulled into the
door was a reference to The Wizard of Oz.
The third floor was
not dark enough for the "suspense" of the scene, so we hung bed sheets
and old sleeping bags over the windows. Two that can be seen are a
Mickey Mouse sheet and a Batman Forever sleeping bag.
Originally, Nic and
Nathan were both going to be zapped to a totally different planet that
was completely covered by corn, instead of just the backyard.
